It took more than 114 years for swimming to arrive at Brackenfell Primary before Grade 5 manager, tammy Coetzee, decided it was time to take the plunge and introduce the sport to the younger learners at the school.

We started with 20 Grade 1’s, practicing twice a week at nearby Paarl School, who kindly share their pool with Brackies.

The swimming practices proved so successful that they soon had to expand to four sessions per week, accommodating 40 swimmers who are being guided in water safety, beginners lessons and swimming strokes.

We hope to expand our swimming sessions to our seniors in the future. 

Staff members Mrs Danel Miller, Ms Nina van der Westhuizen and Mrs Zandre Ferreira joined Mrs Coetzee to start swimming lessons / practices at the school.
