SCHOOL UNIFORM FOR GRADES R TO 3

Boys and girls wear Brackies every day as well as predominantly white ‘takkies’/trainers. In summer, learners can come to school barefoot. NO FLIP FLOPS ALLOWED. Flip flops may also not be worn outside the school grounds with Brackie clothing, as it is not part of the school uniform. In winter, school the tracksuit is worn over Brackie clothes. NO BAREFOOT DURING WINTER. During COVID-19 LEARNERS MAY NOT COME TO SCHOOL BAREFOOT!!

  • If the rules regarding bare feet are not adhered to, the SGB has the right to withdraw that allowance.

SCHOOL UNIFORM FOR GRADES 4 TO 7

School uniform for Grades 4 to 7 is not available at the school's clothing bank.

  • School uniform (girls)
  • White short sleeve shirt
  • Blue school dress with school badge on left chest (school badge only available at      De Jagers)
  • Dark blue pullover (V-neck)
  • Dark blue jersey (V-neck)
  • White socks
  • Black shoes

Winter:

  • Blue school dress
    • OR
  • Grey trousers (girls’ style) with a zip and grey socks
  • White long sleeve shirt with school tie
  • Dark blue pantyhose or long grey socks. (NO white socks with trousers/dresses).
  • Dark blue jersey (V-neck)
  • Dark blue pullover (V-neck)
  • Prescribed dark blue windbreaker (available at clothing bank)
  • Black shoes
  1. Sportswear (girls)
  • Athletics: Dark blue shorts (Brackie) and dark blue sleeveless shirt.
  • Hockey: Dark blue skirt with hot pants and dark blue sleeveless shirt, dark blue socks and ‘takkies’.
  • Netball: Dark blue skirt with hot pants and dark blue sleeveless shirt, (available at clothing bank) white socks and ‘takkies’.
  • Tennis: Dark blue skirt with "hot pants" and dark blue sleeveless shirt, (available at clothing bank) white socks and ‘takkies’.
  • Child Kinetics: Dark blue shorts (Brackie) and dark blue golf shirt, white socks and ‘takkies’.
  • ALL SPORTS: Official school tracksuit (available at clothing bank)

Socks must be ankle height and must be folded over. No secret socks are allowed. ‘Takkies’ should be predominantly white with minimal other colours.

Dark blue school panties (hot pants – available at clothing bank) must be worn with school or sports clothing.

Summer:

Boys may wear long pants (trousers) in the summer.

Sportswear (boys)

  • Athletics: Dark blue shorts with Brackie golf shirt. (clothing bank)
  • Hockey: Dark blue shorts, golf shirt with dark blue socks
  • Tennis: Dark blue shorts, golf shirt (clothing bank) and white socks
  • Rugby: Dark blue shorts and rugby jersey (clothing bank)
  • Mini cricket: Dark blue shorts, Brackie golf shirt (clothing bank) and white socks
  • Cricket: Dark blue shorts, Brackie golf shirt (clothing bank) and dark blue socks.
  • Child Kinetics: Dark blue shorts (Brackie) with golf shirt (clothing bank)
  • Cross Country: Dark blue athletic pants and Brackie golf shirt.
  • All sports: Official school tracksuit (clothing bank)

Very important information:

Sportswear and school uniform may not be mixed. In other words, tracksuit jackets may not be worn with school uniform and jerseys are not allowed with sportswear.

The pullover may not be worn with sports clothes, only with cricket attire.

No sports socks with brand names, such as Adidas, Nike, etc. Only white socks that are ankle height.

Only Brackenfell Primary School's suitcases are allowed. (Gr 1 to 3 suitcases are available at the clothing bank and Gr 4 to 7 suitcases only available at De Jagers)

Hair:

Girls:

  • Neat hairstyles, no fringes hanging in eyes.
  • Long hair should be neatly tied. Only one or two ponytails.
  • Long hair may not be tied/pinned with a big clip.
  • Hair may not be dyed.
  • Only dark blue ribbons, elastics, hair ties or clips are allowed.
  • Hair hanging over the shirt's collar should be tied up.
  • Gel may not be used.

 

Boys:

  • Long hair is not allowed.
  • Hair must be cut in a neat style.
  • Hair may not be dyed.
  • Long fringes are not allowed.
  • Hair may not touch the collar or ears.
  • Gel may not be used.

Nails

  • Nails should be short.
  • No nail polish on toes or finger nails.

Jewelry

  • Only a watch may be worn. (no charm bracelet type watch is allowed).
  • Earrings: only buttons may be worn in the ears. One per ear. It may be gold or silver.
  • No necklaces, rings, bracelets or armbands may be warn.

“CIVVIES”

  • Parents should please ensure that their children leave the house appropriately dressed on "civvie days".
  • The school rules regarding hair are applicable on "civvie days".
  • Very short skirts and shorts are not allowed.
  • Shoes are compulsory.

PLEASE NOTE: The uniform can be amended with the discretion of the school governing body.
